John Joseph Bonica,
M.D.

The late Dr. Bonica was perhaps the most distinguished authority in all the world on the subject of pain. Former Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Washington Medical School, Dr. Bonica held Honorary doctorates from Siena University in Italy, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Northwestern University. In his long and eminent career he was President of the International Association for the Study of Pain; Chairman of the International Pain Foundation and the American Pain Society; President of the Association for Research in Nervous and Mental Disease; President of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, of the Association of University Anesthesiologists, and the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists. He was the editor of the section on Pain for the professional journal, Surgical Practice and was Honorary Editor of the International Journal of Pain Therapy. Dr. Bonica held visiting Professorships and Lectureships at over 20 American and more than 40 foreign universities and medical centers. He is the sole or primary author or editor of over 30 books and more than 200 published articles.


Ramsay MacMullen, Historian

Dr. MacMullen (Ph.D., Harvard) was Chairman of the History Department at Yale University and, for 14 years, the Dunham Professor of History and Classics at Yale. A former Chairman of the Association of Ancient Historians of the United States and Canada, he is acknowledged worldwide as a leading scholar on the history of the Roman Empire. He is the author of numerous books including Christianizing the Roman Empire and Paganism and Christianity. Five of his books have been translated into Italian or French or both.


James F. Strange, Ph.D., Biblical Archaeologist

Dr. Strange holds the Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School and a doctorate in New Testament Studies from Drew University. He is a former Fellow of Judaeo-Christian Studies at Duke University and past Curator and Director of The Living Center for Biblical and Archaeological Studies. He was Dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of South Florida until 1989, then Chairperson of USF's Department of Religious Studies and of the USF Classics Program until 1993. He has been director or archaeological consultant at numerous field studies and excavations in Jordan and Israel and is the author or co-author of hundreds of scholarly articles and 6 books, including The Archaeology of Early Christianity and Judaism.. Dr. Strange is also a Member of the Editorial Board of Biblical Archaeology Review, and Editor for Art and Archaeology for the MacMillan Dictionary of Judaism in the Biblical Period.


Frederick T. Zugibe, M.D., Medical Examiner

Dr. Zugibe is the Chief Medical Examiner of Rockland County, NY and is recognized throughout the United States as an authority in the field of Pathology. He is a Diplomate in Forensic Pathology of the American Board of Pathology; a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and of the College of American Pathologists; and Adjunct Associate Professor of Pathology at Columbia Unversity College of Physicians and Surgeons. The textbook he authored, Diagnostic Histochemistry, is used in medical centers worldwide and is considered the definitive work in the field. He is also the author of A Medical Examiner Investigates the Crucifixion.


John Dauer, Producer/Director

John Dauer is creator of HOW JESUS DIED: THE FINAL 18 HOURS. Mr. Dauer, a professional film maker, has received numerous awards as Producer/Director, including a Creative Excellence Award at the 1991 U.S. Film & Video Festival. He has produced and directed feature films as well as network, cable and syndication TV, pilots, special documentaries and news features. Mr. Dauer devoted 2 years of research, interviews and filming to HOW JESUS DIED: THE FINAL 18 HOURS.
